City and Colour @ Rams Head Live (Baltimore, MD)

The first time I heard City and Colour on Pandora, I fell in love with Dallas Green‘s voice (Dallas Green – get it? City and Colour?). It was a sold out show at Rams Head Live and seeing that it was my first time at the venue, I was in for a rude awakening. First of all, no barricades for this show. I hate doing it but I had to weasel my way into the crowd so that I can get a good spot to shoot Dallas. His fans were yelling at me telling me that they’ve been waiting for hours and they needed me to move. But after I befriended a few people around me, since I told them that I would be out of their hair after 3 songs, the crazy dark cloud that was looming over the impatient crowd completely dissipated when City and Colour came on stage.

Dallas played crowd favorites such as We Found Each other in the Dark, Little Hell, Sleeping Sickness and many more. Then, in a turn of events, he pauses before he started playing the next song. Green asked for everyone to show him their mobile phones. “Ok, thanks….now put it in your pocket” he said to the crowd. We are so consumed by taking a picture of every single moment that we forget to actually live in that moment.

Dallas paused again…and began to play one of the most beautiful rendition of his most popular and highly acclaimed song The Girl. And this time, it was without a single camera phone flash going off. Let’s always to remember to live in the moment.
